About the Program:

The Essentials in Volunteer Management Certificate Program or optional Notre Dame College Undergraduate Three-Credit course is a comprehensive in-depth study of the key, core areas in the administration and management of volunteer and not-for-profit programs.  Through class participation, both academic theory and applied practical skills will enhance the effectiveness and success of professionals who interact with or manage volunteers, or who are grounded in the not-for-profit arena.

A.        Course Structure

·                    Site: Notre Dame College, 4545 College Road, Cleveland, OH 44121, 1-877-632-6446.

·                    One-day sessions held once a week for seven weeks from (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) for a total of 49 hours; sessions include one hour for lunch (purchase or bring) and two fifteen minute breaks. 

·                    Use of interactive classroom setting.

·                    Course fee: $300 early registration from January 19 through February 29, 2008.  $325 after February 29, 2008.  Fee to include materials. 

·                    Instructor materials will be provided; other instructor-recommended texts may optionally be purchased by students for their personal libraries.

·                    Homework to be completed on an individual basis and will reflect the thought process, investigation, research and real-life situation of the student.

·                    Assignments related to implementing course content in the student’s organization will be required. These assignments will become the student’s comprehensive “Blueprint for Action” to be completed and presented during Week Seven.  A completed blueprint is a requirement for receipt of a certificate or three credits.

·                    Members of the Certificate Task Force Committee will provide oversight to this program.
