Meet your instructors:
Pam Temnick Bucha
- For 21 years Pam has
designed and facilitated programs
to support the achievement of personal and organizational goals. Her experiences are as
broad as her
audiences, from presenting to high school students representing a
proprietary
school; supervising and training franchisees as a regional director;
developing
a team of trainers supporting a collections call center; and formerly
as
director of training &development for AAA Ohio Motorists
Association. Each
relationship has provided similar
opportunities to initiate and facilitate cultural change in the areas
of
selling and customer service to both internal and external customers. As a business consultant,
Pam offers
customized programs to clients in the areas of leadership, change,
conflict
management and customer service. Her
enthusiasm and endless energy make her a memorable presenter and coach.
Kathy Levine
-
Kathy has been
involved in the volunteer arena for over 30 years and is
the volunteer manager at The Great Lakes Science Center and past
president of
The Forum for Volunteer Administrators. She is certified in
Volunteer
Administration by the Association for Volunteer Administration and was
the vice
president of its board of directors, a member of its ethics committee
and board
development committees. She is also certified as a
paralegal and has
taught advanced volunteer management at Kent State
University. She
created the successful Essentials in
Volunteer Management Course specifically
for individuals connecting with volunteers, FVA’s Mentor
Match Program, and Cleveland’s first city-wide
volunteer recognition
event. Kathy
founded Management
Systems by Design in 2007 to connect
people to the successful management of their organization and its
programs and
services.
Kathy conducts numerous workshops on volunteerism and volunteer
management and
is a consultant to not-for-profit and corporate organizations seeking
volunteer
management direction. She has been published in the AVA's Journal of Volunteer Administration and
other not-for-profit publications.
Molly Nash –
Molly has been
in the field
of volunteer program management for 24 years and prior to that as a
volunteer
managing a community emergency assistance program.
She has been at Lake Hospital system as the director of
volunteer
services since 1988, where their hospital volunteers provide more than
120,000
hours of service in the two hospitals and two medical campuses.
Molly is
nationally certified through the American Society of Directors of
Volunteer
Services (ASDVS) and state certified through OSDVS. She has presented
classes
on volunteer program management and positive communication at state and
local
conferences, as well as Lakeland Community College and in this
certification
program. Molly believes that working with people who donate their time
and
expertise to volunteer service is like enjoying the cream-of-the crop,
and she
is honored to serve them by involving them in ways that meet their
needs and
furthers the success of the organization in which they volunteer.
Merle Walker-Burnett
- Combine a
recreation management background along with
an interest in volunteerism, a love for people, over 21 years of experience, and you have all the
makings of a true
professional volunteer manager. Merle
is involved with several not-for–profit organizations. She is the
president of
Special Socials Inc.
as well as the
advisor to other
organizations. Over the course of
her career Merle has been a consultant to
various volunteer and not-for-profit management teams.
Merle
brings her bachelor’s degree in recreation management.
She is also experienced in long-term care
and has worked for Ohio’s Department of MR/DD prior to joining Lake
Metroparks. As she continues
to enjoy a successful career in volunteer management, Merle now coaches
other
people to achieve the same success.
Leslie Yerkes
– For
over 21 years, Leslie's specialty has been helping organizations turn
challenges into opportunities. Her philosophy is simple: people are
basically
good, well intentioned, courageous and able to learn.
Her job is to provide a framework in which they can draw
on their
own inner resources to find creative solutions.
Her insights are powerful, practical and easy to take away
from
her speeches and seminars, at which she excels on the local, national
and
international levels. Leslie
earned her
masters of science in organizational development at Case Western
Reserve
University after graduating from Wittenberg University with a bachelor
of arts,
cum laude, in education. She founded Catalyst Consulting Group, Inc. in
1987,
designing the company's services to utilize the best of her
organizational
development and teaching skills.
In
the corporate sector, she often assists in managing change to increase
productivity and was one of the lead trainers for Chrysler
Corporation's
"Customer One" program.
Not-for--profit companies turn to Leslie for strategic
planning,
leadership coaching, team building and training. She has been retained
by Cuyahoga
County Work in Training’s Welfare to Work project, where her role is
enhancing
the skills of the self-sufficiency coaches.
Leslie writes frequently for the Plain
Dealer and other publications, has taught at John Carroll
University,
Baldwin-Wallace College and Kent State University and serves on the
faculty of
the Weatherhead School of Executive Education and the Mandel School for
Applied
Social Science. She
has published
three best selling books with two more shortly scheduled for release
